If the air conditioning in your MINI no longer cools properly, the system may be low on refrigerant or there may be a technical fault. During our air-conditioning service, we check the system for leaks and recharge it with the refrigerant specified for your MINI model.

Air-conditioning service for your MINI

A properly functioning air-conditioning system does more than provide a comfortable cabin temperature on hot days. It also helps remove moisture from the air, allowing misted windows to clear more quickly.

If cooling performance decreases, simply adding refrigerant is not always enough. We therefore carry out a leak check as part of the air-conditioning service and use the refrigerant specified for the installed system.

  • Leak check: We check the system for signs of a leak or other abnormalities as part of the service.
  • Correct refrigerant: Depending on the model series and installed air-conditioning system, we use R134a or R1234yf.
  • Refrigerant recharge: The system is filled with the quantity specified for the vehicle.
  • Transparent charging: The basic price includes 100 grams of refrigerant. Any additional quantity required is charged according to the type of refrigerant.

When should the air-conditioning system be checked?

  • Reduced cooling performance: The air from the vents is no longer sufficiently cold or the desired cabin temperature takes too long to reach.
  • The air conditioning no longer cools at all: In addition to insufficient refrigerant, possible causes include leaks or defective system components.
  • Unclear service history: If you do not know when the system was last checked and recharged, an inspection may be advisable.
  • After work on the air-conditioning system: If pipes, the condenser, compressor or other components have been opened or replaced, the system must subsequently be checked and recharged correctly.

A refrigerant recharge does not solve every air-conditioning problem. If the system still does not cool with the correct refrigerant quantity or the leak check reveals an abnormality, further diagnosis is required. Detailed leak detection, repairs and replacement parts are not included in the basic air-conditioning service price.

R134a or R1234yf?

Depending on its year, model series and installed air-conditioning system, your MINI requires either R134a or the newer R1234yf refrigerant. These refrigerants must not be interchanged or mixed.

We identify the refrigerant required by your MINI from the vehicle and the air-conditioning system label. We therefore need the complete VIN when you submit your appointment request.

Air-conditioning service prices

ServicePrice
Air-conditioning service
Leak check and recharge including 100 g of refrigerant
99 €
Additional R134a refrigerant17,85 € per additional 100 g
Additional R1234yf refrigerant25 € per additional 100 g
Prices include VAT for the basic service described. The required refrigerant quantity depends on the vehicle, the air-conditioning system and the amount currently present. Further diagnosis, detailed leak detection, repairs, replacement parts, cabin filters and disinfection are not included. Prices correct as of August 2026.

The final price depends on which refrigerant your MINI requires and how much must be added beyond the included 100 grams.

What is not included in the air-conditioning service?

  • Replacement of the cabin or microfilter
  • Disinfection of the evaporator or ventilation system
  • Treatment of unpleasant or musty odours
  • Detailed leak detection to locate the exact source of a leak
  • Repair or replacement of the compressor, condenser, pipes, sensors or other components
  • Refrigerant quantities exceeding the included 100 grams

If the service reveals that further diagnosis or repairs are required, we agree the next steps with you before carrying out additional work.

Does the air conditioning need recharging every two years?

There is no general fixed two-year recharge interval for every MINI. The system does not consume refrigerant in the way an engine consumes fuel or oil. However, a small quantity can escape over a longer period.

A check is particularly advisable if cooling performance decreases, the service history is unknown or work has been carried out on the air-conditioning system. If an unusually large amount of refrigerant is missing, a possible leak must be considered.

How the air-conditioning service works

  1. Send an appointment request: Provide the complete VIN and explain whether the air conditioning still cools partially or no longer cools at all.
  2. Identify the refrigerant: We determine whether your MINI requires R134a or R1234yf.
  3. Check for leaks: The air-conditioning system is checked for abnormalities as part of the service.
  4. Recharge the system: The air-conditioning system is filled with the specified refrigerant and the quantity required for the vehicle.
  5. Discuss any abnormalities: If further diagnosis or repair is required, we discuss the next steps with you.

Frequently asked questions about our air-conditioning service

How much does the air-conditioning service at Miniparts24 cost?

The air-conditioning service costs 99 € including VAT and covers the leak check, refrigerant recharge and 100 g of refrigerant. Additional R134a costs 17,85 € per additional 100 g, while additional R1234yf costs 25 € per additional 100 g.

Which refrigerant does my MINI require?

Depending on the year, model series and installed air-conditioning system, either R134a or R1234yf is required. We identify the correct refrigerant from the vehicle and the air-conditioning system label.

What is the final price for the refrigerant recharge?

The final price depends on the refrigerant required and the actual quantity needed. The basic price includes 100 g. Any additional amount is charged per additional 100 g.

Are the cabin filter and disinfection included in the service?

No. Replacing the cabin filter, disinfecting the air-conditioning system and treating unpleasant odours are not included in the basic price.

Is detailed leak detection included in the air-conditioning service?

No. The air-conditioning service includes a leak check. If this reveals an abnormality, detailed leak detection or repair may be required. This additional work is not included in the basic price.

Why might the air conditioning still not cool properly after recharging?

Insufficient refrigerant is only one possible cause. A defective compressor, condenser or pressure sensor, a leaking pipe or another technical problem can also affect cooling performance. Further diagnosis is required in this case.

Does the air conditioning have to be recharged every two years?

Not as a general rule for every MINI. A check is particularly advisable if cooling performance decreases, the service history is unknown or work has been carried out on the system. If an unusually large amount of refrigerant is missing, a possible leak should be investigated.
